Carly Fiorina on Jobs

I will cut some jobs to save others, like I did at HP
We know that in this vast federal bureaucracy we have about 260,000 government employees who are going to retire, and we shouldn't replace them. At Hewlett Packard, we went through the worst technology recession in 25 years--a great company called
Gateway used to be here in Iowa. But they didn't make the tough calls necessary to save those jobs, and they lost every one. I've had to make some tough calls. We saved 80,000 jobs. We went on to grow to 160,000 jobs.

Women lost 92% of jobs; so lift everyone up, women included
Q [to Sen. Cruz]: What you would do as President about women earing 77% of what men earn?CRUZ: Well, we've got to turn the economy around for people who are struggling. The Democrats' answer to everything is more government control over wages and
more empowering trial lawyers to file lawsuits. Under Barack Obama, 3.7 million women have entered poverty, and the median wage for women has dropped $733.
FIORINA: 92% of the jobs lost during Barack Obama's first term, belonged to women.
I am a conservative because I know our values, our principles, and our policies lift everyone up, men and women.

Layoffs in recession ensure company's overall health
Q: You know what's going to happen if you were the nominee: exactly what happened to Mitt Romney. People will say that while you were CEO of Hewlett Packard, there were 30,000 American jobs that were lost and they can get people to go on and say, "Carly
Fiorina got a $20 million severance package, while I lost my job." They'll make you look like an unfeeling multimillionaire.FIORINA: I think you're reading the Democratic talking points because it was not all American jobs. But of course, laying
people off is the last resort. It's a terrible thing to have to do. But when you are managing through the worst technology recession in 25 years, sometimes there are tough calls that need to be made for the overall health of the enterprise.
And in the end, we took a company that was really struggling and turned it into an exceedingly successful company where overall jobs grew.
