Letting in foreigners was Christian, but killed ancient Rome
In 376 AD, a large band of Gothic refugees arrives at the Empire's Danube frontier, asking for asylum. In a complete break with established Roman policy, they were allowed in, unsubdued.
They revolted, and within two years had defeated and killed the emperor Valens--the one who had received them.What Valens had done was the Christian thing to do, but it had never been the Roman thing to do. Valens has his modern counterpart in
George W. Bush. For in May 2006, Republican senators at Bush's urging joined Democrats to offer a blanket amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens and permit US businesses to go abroad and bring in foreign workers.
Senators had been shocked by the millions of Hispanics marching in America's cities under Mexican flags. And as was the emperor Valens, President Bush was hailed for his compassion and vision.

Previous immigration was limited; now it's an invasion
No one knows how many illegal aliens are here. The estimates run from 12 to 20 million.This is not immigration as America knew it, when men and women made a conscious choice to turn their backs on their
native lands and cross the ocean to become Americans. This is an invasion, the greatest invasion in history. Nothing of this magnitude has ever happened in so short a span of time.
There are 36 million immigrants and their children in the US today, almost as many as came to American between Jamestown in 1607 and the Kennedy election of 1960.
Nearly 90% of all immigrants now come from continents and countries whose peoples have never been assimilated fully into any Western country.
Against the will of a vast majority of Americans, America is being transformed.

Muslim immigrants retain identity & don't assimilate
No modern European nation has ever assimilated a huge cohort of immigrants, let alone tens of millions of Muslims. Not one. And unlike African-Americans, the Islamic people pouring into Europe--there are 20 million in the
European Union alone--are strangers. Millions do not wish to give up their Arab and Islamic identities and cultures and become Europeans.
They wish to remain Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Turk--and Muslim. Most adhere to a faith historically hostile to Christianity that is growing in militancy and recoils from a secularized, sex-saturated European culture.
In the threatened war of civilizations, this vast Muslim cohort is a potential 5th column in the heart of a post-Christian Europe.

Remove 12 million illegal aliens by attrition & enforcement

repeatedly demands that opponents of his McCain-Kennedy bill explain how they propose to remove 12 million illegal aliens from the US.Bush is attacking a straw man. We do not need to create a Gestapo or send federal agents to round up and deport
nannies or gardeners. And the answer to McCain may be summed up in a single word: attrition. Vigorous enforcement of US laws will persuade millions to go home. If they cannot find jobs, if they are denied welfare, food stamps, and rent supplements,
if their children are not all educated for free after they break in, they will not come, and many will go home, as earlier immigrants went home who did not find what they sought here.

Dividing line on immigration is elite vs. workers
With the Constitution, the law, and the policies on the side of doing his duty and securing our broken borders, why does President Bush not act? What is paralyzing the White House? Answer: Political correctness, political cowardice, political
opportunism, a sense of guilt for America's sins, and twin ideologies that have a grip on our elites not unlike a religious cult.A White House that calls itself conservative sees Hispanics as its last hope to cling to power.
Unpatriotic elites really do not care about the other America. For they live in another country, a country of gated communities.
The dividing line on the issue is not liberal vs. conservative, but elites vs. the people. A 2002 poll exposed the gulf
between average Americans and the elites. While 60% of those surveyed said present levels of immigration constitute "a critical threat to the vital interests of the US," only 14% of prominent Americans agreed.

It's a myth that America is a nation of immigrants

- Among those coming now, many bring with them no love of America or any desire to be one of us. Most come to work; some bring hostility in their hearts.

Easier to assimilate Englishmen than Zulus
In discussing immigration, Buchanan had rattled a lot of nerves when he asked rhetorically, "if we had to take a million immigrants in,
say Zulus next year or Englishmen, and put them in Virginia, what group would be easier to assimilate and would cause less problems for the people of Virginia?"
Buchanan maintained he was not a racist. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I wondered, why had he time and again
selected language that he knew would appeal to the worst people instead of the best? Why Zulus?

Melting pot is broken; newcomers no longer assimilate
America's native-born population has ceased to grow. Its birth rate has fallen below replacement levels. U.S. population growth now comes from immigrants, legal and illegal, from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The religious, ethnic, and racial composition of the country, a child of Europe, is changing more rapidly than that of any other great nation in history in an era when race, religion, and ethnicity are tearing countries apart.
The melting pot no longer works its magic. Newcomers are not assimilating.The American people have demanded in every survey that illegal immigration be halted and legal immigration reduced.

California is becoming the Third World state of Mexifornia

Did California vote for this future? Never. They saw it coming and resisted as best they could.

America is becoming Mexamerica
Half the 100 million Mexicans are still mired in poverty. Tens of millions are unemployed or underemployed. Because of devaluations, real wages are below what they were in 1993.
Thus the great migration north continues. Some 1.5 million are apprehended every year on our southern border breaking into the United States. Of the perhaps 500,000 who make it, one-third head for
Mexifornia, where their claims on Medicaid, schools, courts, prisons, and welfare have tipped the Golden State toward bankruptcy and induced millions of native-born Americans to flee in the great exodus to Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, and Colorado.
Ten years after NAFTA, Mexico’s leading export to America is still--Mexicans. America is becoming Mexamerica.

Immigration tsunami will make whites a minority in US

Make English our official language
Buchanan’s TV ad, titled “Meatball,” depicts a man who begins to choke when he hears of a government move to strip English of its status as the “national language.” The ad cites an executive order President Clinton signed in August making it easier

Use troops on borders to limit immigration
Q: Describe your immigration policy.A: Frankly, we ought to get control of our immigration, as most Americans want. And, frankly, put our troops, if necessary, on the border to stop the one million illegals coming into this country.
250,000 to 300,000 a year could come in. We’d still be the most generous country in the world, but it would give us time to assimilate and Americanize the 30 million who have come here in recent decades.

Treat illegal immigration as an invasion & repel it
We cannot continue to allow illegal immigration. A country that loses control of its borders is not a country. The Constitution of the United States obligates the government to protect the states from foreign invasion. If we can send an army halfway
around the world to defend the borders of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, why can’t we defend the borders of the United States? I will build a security fence. We will seal the borders of this country cold. We will stop the illegal immigration in its tracks.
