Healthcare is a basic human right
We need to give New Hampshire citizens and businesses a boost by making good, quality healthcare universally available. Healthcare is a basic human right. Expanded Medicaid must remain a reality. I have seen the impacts of the opioid crisis and know
how unprepared we are to deal with it. We had a nation-leading mental health system that was allowed to wither and die for lack of investment. We need to rebuild that system and improve on our lowest in the nation health provider payment rates.

Protect people with pre-existing conditions, lower costs
Healthcare costs and prescription drug costs continue to be a problem in this country even after the passage and implementation of the Affordable Care Act, known by many as ObamaCare. Those forced into this system lost their private health insurance,
insurance politicians had promised people they could keep. I will fight to protect people with pre-existing conditions while at the same time working for reforms to actually help lower the cost and improve healthcare.

Opposes Medicare for All
Social Security and Medicare is a promise our nation made to our Seniors. I won't let that promise be destroyed or forgotten. I will stand up to protect Social Security and Medicare.
I won't let politicians like Bernie Sanders and Jeanne Shaheen destroy the current Medicare system so many Seniors are depending by replacing it with a "Medicare-for-All" system.

such access. We give people the ability to shift money within their health empowerment account so that each family basically becomes its own insurance company without a middleman; that saves you an awful lot of money. And that will lower the cost of your

The middle class will pay less with single payer health plan
CLINTON; Senator Sanders' commitment to really changing systems: free college, a single payer system for health, and it's been estimated we're looking at 18 to $20 trillion, about a 40 percent increase in the federal budget. I have looked at his plans
for health care, and it really does transfer every bit of our health care system including private health care, to the states. I think we've got to be really thoughtful about how we're going to afford what he proposed. SANDERS: Secretary
Clinton is wrong. You know that the US per capita pays far more than other country. It is unfair simply to say how much more the program will cost without making sure that people know that we are doing away with cost of private insurance and that the
middle class will be paying substantially less for health care on the single payer.
CLINTON: Your proposal is to go and send the health care system to the state. And my analysis is that you are going to get more taxes out of middle class families.

We spend more on care than countries with single-payer
Not only are deductibles rising, 29 million still have no health insurance and millions can't afford to go to the doctor.. Why is it that the US is the only major country on earth that does not guarantee health care to all people? This ties into
campaign finance reform. The insurance companies, the drug companies are bribing the s Congress. We need to pass a Medicare for all single payer system. It will lower the cost of health care for a middle-class family by thousands of dollars a year.

The Affordable Care Act has had successes
We have ended the terrible situation that people with pre-existing conditions were faced with where they couldn't find affordable care. Women are not charged more than men any longer for health insurance. Those are positive developments. But
out-of-pocket costs have gone up too much and prescription drug costs have gone through the roof. I have proposed a $5,000 tax credit to help people who have large out-of-pocket costs , and I want Medicare to be able to negotiate for lower drug prices.

States that didn't extend Medicaid drive up costs still
One of the reasons in some states why the percentage cost has gone up so much is because governors there would not extend Medicaid.
And so people are still going to get health care, thankfully, in emergency rooms, in hospitals. Those costs are then added to the overall cost, which does increase the insurance premiums for people in the private system.

Repair our mental health system; take pressure off ERs
Each of us knows of someone, a friend, a family member, a neighbor who has suffered from mental illness. Right now, many children who are suicidal are stuck for days in emergency rooms because there is nowhere else for them to go.We can all agree that
our mental health system is deeply strained. And though we won't fix all of our challenges at once, it is time to resume our efforts to repair our mental health system. We must phase in changes with a systematic approach that will strengthen all aspects
of mental health care in our state and move us toward more community-based care.
And that is what this budget does. Over the next two years, it will add a new designated receiving facility to take the pressure off local emergency rooms and provide
more appropriate critical treatment environments. It will add new acute psychiatric residential treatment beds, in addition to the beds at the state hospital. And it will focus on treating people in their communities, with 75 new community residence beds
