Pete Coors on Social Security

2004 former Republican Senate Challenger (CO)

Citizens manage their own personal retirement accounts

Q: Should citizens be given the choice to manage their own private Social Security account?

A:Yes. The long term viability of Social Security is at serious risk. While the fund is solvent for current recipients we must enact reforms in order to preserve Social Security for future generations. I favor establishing personal retirement accounts. This type of an account would provide individuals with the flexibility to improve their retirement income above the return of Social Security.
