Bill McBride on Education

Former Democratic FL Governor Challenger

More teacher pay, smaller class sizes

We have the ability to breathe new life into our school systems by investing more of our state revenue in education. We need better-paid teachers and support professionals, smaller class sizes, better facilities and supplies. We must improve the quality of our schools through better investment and by helping all of our children succeed.

Vouchers rob our children?s future

We must discontinue bad and debilitating practices. Vouchers are robbing our children?s futures by taking money from our public schools and giving it to private schools with no accountability. The FCAT is destroying our attempts to educate our children by labeling our schools and kids ?failures.? We must also prepare our children during early childhood. The current governor has thoughtlessly reduced pre-K programs that would improve the reading skills of our children. We can do better.
