Drivers licenses to illegals because I take a drivers test

Q: Do you support the proposal allowing illegal immigrants to obtain drivers licenses?

UEBERROTH: The law enforcement part of the bill has been softened a great deal. I support law enforcement. I would sign the bill, because I have to take a drivers test. The illegal immigrants are in this community. They are doing some very good things. So I would sign the bill. And I would be in favor of it.

Opposes illegal immigration, but also opposes Prop 187

I am a strong opponent of illegal immigration and support strict crackdowns on the ability of individuals to enter this country without permission. But I can not support a policy [like Prop 187] that throws young children out of their classrooms and deprives them of immunizations to protect them from disease. Illegal immigration is a drain on our state's economy and rewards those who intentionally break the law. But I will not allow innocent children to be punished for actions beyond their control.
