* According to article 13 of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee (Massachusetts Democratic Party) by-laws, the Massachusetts Democratic Party may decide which organizations are entitled to use the term 'Democrat'. They have not granted PDS or PDC the right to use the term 'Democrat' and have instead sent legal notice that we may not use the term for the purpose of the Mass Scorecard (formerly known as the Mass Dems Scorecard) or for the full names of PDS or PDC. We note that the Mass Dems' decision is despite that the Mass Scorecard was approved by the majority of the Massachusetts Democratic Convention, which according to the Massachusetts Democratic Party Charter Article 6 Section 1 is empowered as the "the highest authority of the Massachusetts Democratic Party."
