The agreement between the School District and our charter schools will provide unprecedented cooperation as they create equivalent metrics to measure student achievement and school performance. Vigilant innovativion to improve our educational system

Education is the key to ensuring Philadelphians have a high quality of life. Education impacts so many aspects of our lives--health, finances, family, crime--that it is important that we encourage young people, as well as returning students, to succeed in school and continue on to college. We must be innovative and vigilant regarding ways to improve our educational system and to ensure our children are afforded every opportunity to learn. Found federal dollars to improve education in Philly

A 12% increase in the number of applications for student aid and $194 million in additional funds for college students.
A new state education funding formula which led to an additional $51 million funding for the School District of Philadelphia.
The establishment of a Re-Engagement Center, which has provided educational assessment, academic counseling, and access to support services to over 3,700 former dropouts who sought to return to school.
