Commonsense gun safety measures, like banning bump stocks

Councilwoman Raybould: These mass shootings are happening with greater and greater frequency, and it is those like Senator Fischer who have done nothing. I will make sure we implement commonsense gun safety measures, like passing background check and banning bump stocks. we must to everything we can to protect our children and families. Senator Fischer says she supports gun safety measures, but that is not true. She has voted eight times against common sense gun safety measures, even voting to allow a potential terrorist on the no-fly list to have a weapon.

Senator Fischer: On bump stocks, the ATF is doing a report on that. it has not come out yet to even identify what or how effective a ban on that would be. You have to have all the information available before you react.

Raybould: President Trump has encouraged municipalities and the US Senate to take initiative on banning bump stocks. We did that and the City Council.

Renew the assault weapons ban; they are killing machines

"I believe strongly in the Second Amendment," Raybould says in a new video provided to The World-Herald. "But that doesn't include killing machines like the AR-15. We must immediately renew the assault weapons ban." Fischer has previously rejected proposals to restrict access to assault weapons.

Raybould has criticized Fischer for accepting campaign contributions from the NRA and says in the video that she will "never take a dime from the NRA." She describes Nebraska parents as angry about Washington inaction on guns.

"Some will say this is bad red state politics," Raybould says. "But as a fourth-generation Nebraskan and a woman of faith, protecting kids from weapons designed to kill as many people as possible is worth risking an election over."
