Stop subsidizing expensive energy like wind & solar

As of July 2014, Vermont's average retail price of electricity to commercial, industrial, and residential consumers is 24%, 27%, and 37% higher than the national average, respectively. At the same time, Vermont is subsidizing wind, solar, and micro-hydro projects. We have shut down Vermont Yankee and don't have a credible alternative. Consumers have no choice in whether they want to subsidize more expensive sources of energy or not. Despite accounting for about a tenth of a percent of the national carbon emissions, we are adopting inefficient and expensive policies and passing the costs along to the ratepayer.

Vermont needs an energy policy that benefits the average ratepayer. The Scott Milne administration's energy policy will be based on facts. We will think innovatively and keep in mind the economic impact of energy policies on everyone from the struggling families to Global Foundries. When I launched my campaign I pledged to always listen before I act.
