Hawkish on Israel, liberal Jewish critics are self-loathing

Laffey, in an interview with the Forward, reeled off a long list of Jewish friends, confidants and advisers, and emphasized his devotion to Israel, which he has never visited because he was preoccupied with work and his daughter's battle with cancer. He is hawkish on the Jewish state to the point that he expressed doubt over the existence of a Palestinian people, and labeled liberal Jews who critique the Jewish state as "self-loathing."

Reporting Iran on nukes is a good start; UN should do more

On February 4th, something historic happened. The UN actually did something worth talking about. After years of running away from its own shadow, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) voted by a margin of 27-3 to report Iran to the UN Security Council. What will happen at the Security Council is anyone's guess, but it is hoped that the US will push for some punitive measure against Iran. This is a good start. The prospect of a nuclear Iran has reached a point where it cannot be ignored.
