Oppose expanding the military
Q: Would you expand the military"?A: Strongly oppose.˙ The military-industrial complex is alive and kicking, to the loss of financial and safe conditions hurting the country, and threatening more worldwide violence and wars. We are a behemoth in a
strong defense, with too many military bases and involvements worldwide.˙ We need to foster democracy and peace, not threaten opponents or our enemies with physical threats and intimidating presence around the world.˙ Our motives are based on self
interests and economic gain at others expense.˙ More art, culture, social, athletic and peaceful exchanges need to be fostered and financed by our federal government. ˙ We should also redirect our defense and space industries to explore new and improved
solutions for our country, our citizens and our world in the areas of health, art, culture, education, music, science, etc.˙ We also need to reduce our nuclear stockpiles and ballistic missiles worldwide with all nations in possession of such weapons.

Close down all foreign military bases
By eliminating for-profit corporations, nationalizing industries, and controlling and regulating the banking and financial areas, we will be able to eliminate most wars, enhance peace through fairer economic policies, and cut our Defense budget
in half. We will also close down all foreign military bases and abolish the CIA and NSA. We stand for unconditional disarmament, outlawing all nuclear power and weapons of mass destruction and end U.S. arms sales.

Close down the DHS and repeal the Patriot Act
We will close down the entire homeland security agency, an $8 billion boondoggle with duplicated bureaucracy & unnecessary layers of intelligence. This should include eliminating its sweeping police powers, & repealing the Patriot Act & Anti-Terrorism
Act.

Reduce terrorist threat by ending foreign exploitation
Terrorist threats will cease due to our new foreign policy that stops our exploitation of foreign lands and cultures and thereby removing the motivation of hate so prevalent amongst those countries that have been taken advantage of by our government
and American and global corporations.

Question the Patriot Act, prisoner abuse, & domestic spying
It is important that we question recent developments resulting from 9/11 and the Iraq War:- Congressional support and implementation of the Patriot Act
- Warrantless searches of Americans
- Condoning of domestic spying on both antiwar groups and
average American citizens
- Turning a blind eye and tolerating any form of prisoner abuse and torture
- Allowing the deprivation of American citizen and foreign prisoner rights
- The intimidation of free speech and lawful dissent in our country

Reduce weaponry & defense spending significantly
Important Issues:- Reduce Defense spending significantly in the areas of high tech and military equipment and weaponry while enhancing protections and benefits for the common soldier.
Brian supports these summary positions from the Socialist
Party Platform: - abolish CIA, NSA, DHS, and all other covert warfare institutions
- unconditional disarmament by the US
- immediate 50% cut in the military budget, with priority given to social services
- end US arms sales in world.
