Competition key to improving public schools
Children do better when they can attend a school of their family's choice, regardless of the type: public, charter, private, traditional, online or home school. Expanded school choice, of course, does not mean we should be leaving behind our
traditional public schools; it's about increasing the level of competition in our education system to compel schools to be better. Charter schools bring increased innovation and competition, which drives all schools to improve.

In education, more choice makes more competition
Q: What is your opinion on education?
A: Specifically, I think there are some innovative models in other places around the country. At the heart of education is our teachers, and we need to make sure we're hiring, recruiting,
mentoring and paying our best teachers what they deserve to be paid. I believe charter schools and choice and other innovative models improve the public schools in terms of creating more competition.
