Many founding principles are timeless, & have been violated
Q: Which of the following comes closest to your personal opinion?
A. To make this country great, we should return to the examples and values of our forefathers
B. This country is already great, we shouldn't change a thing
C. To make this
country great, we should keep building and adapting for the future
A: These are not mutually exclusive answers. I'd pick C if I had to pick. But we need to return to a number of basic principles and values that made America great.
This country was founded on certain principles and values that are timeless. Some need to evolve, but some are timeless, like the rule of law; equal justice; intergenerational justice. Those are timeless, and quite frankly we've violated all of them.
I'm torn on this--the world is a different place than 1789 we need to recognize that we need to evolve and continuously improve. But consistency with the basic principles and values--that should be timeless.
