Vivek Ramaswamy on Government Reform

75% reduction in number of federal bureaucrats
Here's the dirty little secret in American politics today: the people who we elect to run the government are not the ones who are even actually writing regulations. Congress never gave [agency bureaucrats] the authority to write [regulations]. And the
good news is a US president can absolutely fix that. That takes a US president with a spine. In my administration, by the end of year one, we will have a 75% reduction in the number of federal bureaucrats. We will shut down government agencies that
should not exist. We will rescind any regulation that fails the test of West Virginia v. EPA, which is the most important Supreme Court case of our lifetime that said, "If Congress didn't delegate that to an administrative agency, then it's
unconstitutional." These are seismic changes. These are big changes that the next president can deliver without asking Congress for permission or forgiveness. This is what the leader of the executive branch gets to do under Article II of the Constitution.

Declare war on the federal administrative state
V.P. Mike PENCE: Vivek, you recently said a President can't do everything. Well, I got news for you. I've been in the West Wing. A President has to confront every crisis facing America. I will put our nation back on the path to growth and prosperity.
Vivek RAMASWAMY: The only war that I will declare as US President will be the war on the federal administrative state that is the source of toxic regulations acting like a wet blanket on the economy. So, I'm not sure exactly understood Mike
Pence's comment. For me, it's pretty simple. That's something the US President can do with focus, and I'll deliver on that.
PENCE: Let me explain it to you. I was a House conservative leader before it was cool. I actually pushed the Deficit Reduction
Act. That was the last time we actually reduced the national debt. Joe Biden has weakened this country at home and abroad. Now is not the time for on-the-job training. We don't need to bring in a rookie.

Raise voting age to 25 for the majority of U.S. voters
He leans outside of its traditional boundaries: At 38, he's the youngest Republican candidate for president and much younger than the 77-year-old Trump and the 80-year-old President Joe Biden.
He has proposed raising the voting age to 25 for the majority of U.S. voters and advocates for significant reductions in the federal workforce. Additionally, he aims to make substantial cuts to institutions such as the FBI and the Education Department.

End civil service protection, federal employee unions
DISMANTLE MANAGERIAL BUREAUCRACY- Shut down toxic government agencies: Dept of Education, FBI, IRS, and more (and rebuild from scratch when required)
- End civil service protections for bureaucrats: 8-year term limits instead
- Eliminate federal
employee unions: repeal JFK's executive order 10988
- Move >75% of federal employees out of Washington DC & end pro-lazy "remote work" option
- Cut wasteful expenditures: White House, not individual agencies, will submit budget requests to Congress

Shut down the FBI and replace it with something new
I didn't say defund the FBI, I said shut down the FBI and replace it with something new.
I think it's a new apparatus built from scratch that actually respects the law instead of making it up. When you have a bureaucracy whose culture becomes so ossified, every once in a while, you need to turn it over.

I will shut down the Dept. of Education and the FBI
Mr. Ramaswamy said, "The first agency we will shut down is the U.S. Department of Education. The second government agency that I will shut down in this country we should have done this at least 60 years ago.
We are going to get it done as finally, it is time to shut down the FBI in America and create something new to take its place because we are done with the J. Edgar Hoover legacy to let this be a self-governing nation again."
