development. I got hit very hard: it's private, it's private eminent domain. You understand that [Jeb and George Bush] took over a stadium in Texas, and they used private eminent domain.
BUSH: You should not use eminent domain for private purposes.
A baseball stadium or a parking lot.is very different. All of that is proper use of eminent domain. Not to take an elderly woman's home to build a parking lot so that high-rollers can come from New York City to build casinos in Atlantic City.

Great American Outdoors Act sets funding for public land
President Trump signed the Great American Outdoors Act, a measure that guarantees maximum annual funding for a federal program to acquire and preserve land for public use. The act, which allocates $900 million a year to the
Land and Water Conservation Fund and provides up to $9.5 billion over five years to begin clearing up a maintenance backlog at national parks, was approved on a 310-to-107 vote in the House. It was introduced by Representative Joe Cunningham.

Green diesel regulations cost $367 per truck per year
The Environmental Protection Agency announced new "green" regulations for all American-owned trucks. Diesel engines, which for 100 years had been powerful, durable, and efficient, would now be "fixed" by bureaucrats. The EPA and Department of Justice
sued seven diesel engine manufacturers, and forced them to pay civil penalties of $83.4 million. They also had to agree to spend over $850 million to develop the new engines Washington wanted. These costs were passed right along to consumers.
A trade publication, Fleet Owner, tallied the costs: "About $1,800 to $3,000 was added to the base cost of a Class 8 truck [any vehicle above 33,000lb GVWR] in 2002 to meet the first round of emissions regulations. For 2007, an extra $5,000 to $10,000
got tacked on." By 2010, that meant roughly $13,500 to $23,000 extra per truck to satisfy the bureaucrats.
As a result of the new rules, fleet maintenance costs increased an extra $367 on average per truck, per year. And that's when the truck was new.

As mayor of coastal town has made clean water a priority
Beaufort Mayor Everette "Rett" S. Newton says he has made clean water a priority while holding office since 2017 in the coastal town. "I am the environmental candidate and I just want to continue our work to protect our environment," he said.
Newton told Coastal Review that environmental protection is good not only for public health but also for commerce, "because people want to come to a clean water coastal community. People want to live, work and play in a clean water coastal community."

Make sure our planet is habitable for future generations
- We have an obligation to make sure our planet is habitable for future generations, particularly in South Carolina, which stands to bear a large part of the damage done by climate change.
- Climate change is real and we must fund studies to make
sure we are prepared for its effects on South Carolina and the nation.
- We need to invest in clean energy infrastructure and stop giving tax breaks to companies that produce environmentally toxic energy.
