“Revolving door policy” sets industry’s agenda in D.C.

A lawyer for Monsanto for seven years was appointed as a staff member of the FDA. There, he wrote the labeling regulations that govern rBGH, the first commercialized genetically engineered food additive, a Monsanto product. This legislation made it unnecessary to label rBGH as a milk additive, and made it illegal for other dairies to advertise that their milk was rBGH-free. This is called the revolving door policy. This is how a great deal of legislation gets written.
