Patricia Morgan on Gun Control

Upgrade security measures in schools instead of banning guns

Gov. Gina Raimondo has taken executive action to ban all firearms, except those carried by police officers, from public school buildings and grounds in the state.

Meanwhile, Raimondo's opponents lined up to critique the governor's position. Republican candidate for governor Patricia Morgan accused Raimondo and other Democrats in Rhode Island of continuing to wage war on the Constitution. "They won't stop until they erode the 2nd Amendment in Rhode Island," she said. Morgan said the governor, instead of coming up with sensible solutions, has chosen to "disrespect the Constitution in a deceitful attempt win primary votes. If she were serious about securing our schools and making our children safe she would have acted sooner to upgrade security measures in all our schools. There are practical, commonsense solutions that do not involve shredding our Constitutional freedoms, but she laughed at them."

Morgan scores 93% by NRA on pro-gun rights policies - NRA Candidate Positions on Gun Rights

While widely recognized today as a major political force and as America`s foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. But our successes would not be possible without the tireless efforts and countless hours of service our nearly three million members have given to champion Second Amendment rights and support NRA programs.

The following ratings are based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionaire sent to all Congressional candidates; the NRA assigned a letter grade (with A+ being the highest and F being the lowest).
