Bernard DeCastro on Government Reform
|
Repeal 17th Amendment; empower state legislatures
I BELIEVE in repealing the 17th Amendment which took power away from the state legislatures to appoint their U.S. Senators and elected them instead by popular vote. Since the passing of this amendment in 1911 the power of corporate tax lobbyist and
special interest groups to influence legislation has created the corrupt monster that now exists in Washington. As it stands now the state legislatures are little more than lobbyist themselves when it comes to making any impact on the federal government.
