Bill will cap overall revenue growth for local governments

So this year, we need to go after the real driver of the problem: Spending. Spending is what drives taxes—always has, always will. And the most reliable way to protect taxpayers is to limit the growth of government itself. I'm introducing a property tax bill that will cap overall revenue growth for local governments. Price at the pump up 50%; inflation at 40-year high

The President and Democrats in Congress have spent the last year either ignoring the issues facing Americans or making them worse. They were warned that spending trillions would lead to soaring inflation. They were told their anti-energy policies would send gas prices to new heights. Wants state stimulus based on population, not unemployment

Unlike previous funding packages, the new stimulus proposal allocates aid based on a state's unemployed population rather than its actual population, which punishes states that took a measured approach to the pandemic and entered the crisis with healthy state budgets and strong economies. A state's ability to keep businesses open and people employed should not be a penalizing factor when distributing funds. Defended $100 million budget cuts from previous fiscal year

Governor Branstad laid out $100 million in cuts to cope with a big shortfall. Reynolds is defending those cuts, saying they pave the way for a stable future for the state: "It's about $128 million dollars that we've had to deappropriate from fiscal year 2017." Exempt from the cuts are Medicaid, property tax credits and K-12 education, but not the state's colleges and universities.
