Improving education must start with professional teachers
Myrth knows improving education must start with teachers. As Governor, she will:
Improve training for first-year teachers by creating new partnerships or externships, pairing new teachers in their first year in the classroom with experienced or
retired teachers.
Provide specialized teacher training in literacy by utilizing best practices that enable teachers to ensure that all of RI?s students graduate with literacy skills needed to succeed later in life.
Help teachers maximize
their skills by encouraging every school to certify at least one teacher through National Board Certification.
Advance professional development in standards-based instruction by ensuring that teachers are given the tools
to help students meet Rhode Island?s world-class educational standards. Myrth believes this training must become an integral part of every teacher?s professional development plan.
