Jerry Carl on Principles & Values

Voted to challenge electoral college, despite Capitol attack

Congress eventually reconvened Wednesday night and certified the presidential race. While some senators who initially said they would challenge the results changed course, Carl and other Alabama lawmakers forged ahead with their unsuccessful fight challenging the results in Arizona and Pennsylvania. "I did a lot of research on this, and I'm not going to let a bunch of thugs change how I vote. I'm not going to be scared into voting a way somebody wants me to vote," said Carl.

Dems and Republicans can work together to solve problems

Carl said that he represents a "red meat district," so protecting gun rights and pushing pro-life legislation will be at the top of his agenda. He also said his constituents want lower taxes and a smaller government. But Carl also said he's excited to work with both Republicans and Democrats to craft legislation. "I found out they're not the bogeyman. They're actually normal people just like myself. A little different views on some things, but it's nothing we couldn't work through."

The phrase "Make America Great Again" was popularized in Trump's 2015 book Time to Get Tough:Making America Great Again. It is the campaign slogan embroidered on the ubiquitous red caps seen at Trump rallies (which after Trump's presidency, became known as "MAGA rallies").

Oppose certification of the 2020 Presidential election.

Carl voted YEA blocking certification of the Electoral vote

Explanation of 1/6/21 Electoral Certification, by Emily Brooks, Washington Examiner:Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Paul Gosar led an objection to counting Electoral College votes from the state of Arizona, the first formal objection to state results in a series of moves that will delay the certification of Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election over President Trump. Cruz is advocating for an `emergency 10-day audit` of election returns in disputed states. The usually ceremonial joint session of Congress that convenes to count and accept Electoral College votes will be put on hold as the House and Senate separately debate the objection.
