Make poverty part of our nation’s public policy agenda

I believe that we have to do more than just talk about the conditions of the poor. I want to work to ensure that the issue of poverty is a part of our nation’s public policy agenda. In this campaign for the United States Senate, the issue of poverty cannot be left off the table.

My core values teach me that it’s right to fight for programs and policies that will make a difference in the lives of the poor and all people. I want to work to secure aid and attention for policies aimed at creating economic growth and new jobs with livable wages.

We can do better as a nation and we ought to. The conditions of poverty that are all around us are crying out for responsible and compassionate leadership.
