Secured funding to research COVID-related health inequality

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes and Kweisi Mfume announced federal funding to research COVID-19 testing and health disparities among women suffering from substance use disorders. "The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a harsh light on the racial and ethnic disparities that plague our communities. As we fight COVID-19, we remain committed to helping our state deliver equitable and affordable health care to every Marylander."

Malpractice insurance & bureaucracy focus on cost,not health

Sky-rocketing malpractice insurance rates and an excess of bureaucratic paperwork forced upon physicians have made America’s health care system more occupied with covering costs than with easing pain. Doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and patients all suffer daily as a result of a system out of control.

Americans without medical coverage are often charged up to three times more than those who have an insurance company to negotiate their hospital bills, and a visit to an emergency room can cost well over $1,000.
