Collins: The disproportionate impact of the pandemic on older Americans emphasizes the need for protections, especially against age discrimination. I cosponsored the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act, which would restore critical age discrimination protections and make it easier for older employees to prove that they are the victims of age discrimination in the workplace.

Chairs Senate investigations on consumer protection

Collins brought this same commitment to the Senate. When it was announced that she would chair the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, the Senate's only investigative subcommittee, Collins decided to make its focus consumer protection and advocacy. Under Collin's leadership, the committee had uncovered and investigated Medicare fraud, Internet scams, telephone slamming, and other practices that ripped off or were unfair to consumers.
