Summary by Associated Press on WBAY, Jun. 23, 2021The state Senate has passed a bill that would prohibit police in Wisconsin from enforcing any future federal laws banning or restricting the use of guns. The proposal is part of a national wave of similar Republican-backed legislation intended to resist new gun control measures.

Veto Message:"This bill is not permitted by the U.S. Constitution. Under Article VI, the U.S. Constitution and the laws made pursuant to it are the supreme law of the land, and this bill purports to nullify the enforcement of federal law."

Legislative Outcome:Passed Assembly 61-36-1 on 6/9; State Rep. Rodriguez voted NO; Senate concurred on a voice vote on 6/23; vetoed by Gov. Evers on July/9/21.
