The program, Immigrant Women in the Settlement of Missouri, uses historical photographs to tell the story of the immigrants who came to Missouri in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, and the many challenges they faced. One of the most difficult and important of these, the task of feeding families, fell most directly on women. Through hard work, ingenuity and a willingness to adapt to the demands of their new environment, immigrant women in Missouri's cities and rural areas alike found ways to put food on the family table.
