Expand Affordable Care Act and include a public option
Healthcare: Increase or decrease government support for health care?Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D): Increase. Healthcare is "central" to her work. Expand Affordable Care Act and include a public option. Expand coverage of
pre-existing conditions. Cap insulin costs for all Americans. Limit drug price increases. No Floridian should "worry about seeking the care they need."
Rick Scott (R): Mostly decrease. Less government action. Sued to overturn Obamacare.

TERM Act: lower prescription drug costs
Americans are paying too much for prescription medications, and I've always been committed to working with anyone--Democrat, Republican, Independent--to lower prescription drug costs. That's why I'm proud to introduce the bipartisan
TERM Act to take on drug manufacturers' shady practice of amassing endless patents to prevent more affordable generic medicines from reaching the market and to stop these companies from increasing their profits at the expense of hardworking Americans."

Make sure every American can afford their healthcare
Q: What would be your top three priorities, if elected?A: As a former associate dean at the Florida International University's medical school, I have spent years helping expand access to healthcare in South Florida, and I will fight in Congress to
make sure every American can afford their care. I lost my father to gun violence when I was 24 years old, which is why committed to passing common-sense gun reform that protects all American families.
And I can't overstate the urgency of taking immediate action to fight climate change.
Q: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
A: Families should never have to choose between putting food on the table or filling their
children's prescriptions. That's why we must work to create an economy that works for everyone, whether it's by making sure we have affordable healthcare, making our tax system work for middle-class families, raising wages or investing in education.

Mucarsel-Powell opposes the PVS survey question on repealing ObamaCare
Project Vote Smart inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Health Care: Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?'
PVS self-description: "The Political Courage Test provides voters with positions on key issues. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads."
