Listen to generals in the field to decide defense policy

Governor Scott Walker was asked what was he doing to prepare to be president, because "the feedback was you were not prepared to speak about foreign policy."

Walker sought to convince [his audience] that if he were elected president, "I would listen to the chain of command. I would listen to the generals in the field, not just those in the joint chiefs. I would listen to the secretary of state, to the secretary of defense and to the national security adviser."

Ensure against radical Islamic terrorism on American soil

[As governor I got terrorism] threat assessments from the FBI. And without divulging confidential information, for years I've been concerned about that threat not just abroad but here in American soil. You've already seen some of the reported stories about what we see in the Twin Cities and some the issues there I think it is clear.

I know all of you parents [with children in military service] feel the same way: I want to know the commander in chief will do every thing in their power to ensure that the threat from radical Islamic terrorists do not wash up on American soil. We will have someone who leads. And ultimately we'll send a message not only that we will protect American soil but do not take this upon freedom loving people anywhere else in the world. We need a leader with that kind of confidence. I can take on a 100,000 protesters [in union protests in Wisconsin and] I could do the same across the world.

Build up U.S. military to take out ISIS entirely

On ISIS, Walker stated, "you've got to take them out entirely--it takes a combination of building up force in terms of the United States military, which I think has fallen to woefully low levels here, it standing up with our allies like Israel, it means working with other allies around the world, but it also means making partners even in the Arab world--Jordan, certainly Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others--Egypt, for sure, of late have seen what's happened, they want a leader in America."

Support for our military transcends partisan differences

Let's remember what unites us and makes us strong. Here in Wisconsin, support for the Packers transcends political, religious, and personal differences. Heck, I was sitting a row ahead and a few seats over from a guy on Sunday who didn't care much for my policies. I told him we were all Packer fans there, and by the end of the game, we were high-fiving another Green Bay victory. Green and gold runs deep.

Here in America, support for our military transcends those same differences. That wasn't always the case, but thankfully, we learned from our past transgressions. We support our men and women in uniform and we thank our veterans. Red, white, and blue runs even deeper.
