Gloria La Riva on Jobs

Party for Socialism and Liberation nominee for President

Close wage gap; end gender division of labor

Stop the attack on women's reproductive rights and defend Roe v. Wade. Women must have the fundamental right to choose & control their own bodies. Women still earn 22 percent less than men, and the gap is even more severe for Black and Latina women. Close the wage gap and end the gender division of labor.

Restrict employers' asking about criminal records

We call for the immediate amnesty for all non-violent offenders currently incarcerated. We call for disallowing employers from inquiring about an applicant's past criminal record not directly related to the occupational task to be performed, including eliminating the check off box for felons.

Raise minimum wage to $15 an hour

Instead of using our tax dollars to fuel the destructive Pentagon budget of more than a half a trillion dollars per year, the La Riva/Puryear presidential campaign calls for redirecting that money to create millions of union jobs for unemployed and underemployed working-class people. We also demand that the minimum wage be raised to $15 dollars an hour now.

A job should be a constitutional right

The La Riva/Puryear campaign believes that everyone is entitled to a job. A job should be a constitutional right. Youth training and hiring programs, along with apprenticeship programs and job placement for adults of all ages can fill the employment for the projects above and more.
