Doug Burgum:
Consider filing a lawsuit over refugee resettlement
Burgum said, "when North Dakota withdrew from the federal refugee resettlement program, the Federal Government, with questionable authority to do so, selected the non-profit Lutheran Social Services to oversee the refugee program in North Dakota.
While I have tremendous compassion for these refugees, this action amounts to federal overreach. Filing a lawsuit against the federal government shouldn't be taken lightly, but it is certainly an option that deserves consideration and debate."

Doug Burgum:
States are addressing border crisis ignored by Feds
And we pray for the safety of our North Dakota National Guard soldiers that are stationed both at home and abroad. And when I say at home, I mean including in Texas, securing our southwest
border. The states have stepped up to address this incredible border crisis that the current administration apparently refuses to even fix or even acknowledge.

Heidi Heitkamp:
Extend DACA for 3 years; $7.6B for 3-year border security
U.S. Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) today introduced bipartisan legislation that would extend Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program protections for three years and provide $7.6 billion to fully fund the first
three years of the administration's border security proposal. With the program deadline fast approaching, this bill will provide a temporary solution for the thousands of DACA recipients facing potential deportation."To actually pass legislation that
strengthens our borders and fixes our broken immigration system, we have to put partisan differences aside and work together," said Heitkamp. "North Dakota and Arizona lay on different borders, but Senator Flake and I share the desire to strengthen
border security while also protecting those who were brought to this country through no fault of their own. While this is not the permanent fix, this would allow Congress to continue to work toward a long-term solution for DREAMers."

for citizenship.

this 'three-for-three' approach is far from a perfect solution, but it would provide a temporary fix by beginning the process of improving border security and ensuring DACA recipients will not face potential deportation," said Flake. "The Senate may not
have been able to deliver a permanent solution to these problems, but we cannot abdicate the responsibility of Congress to solve them. There are many people whose lives and well-being depend on our ability to deliver meaningful results."

Harder for illegals to get benefits & become citizens
Q: Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?A: No.
Q: Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and
local police?

Kevin Cramer:
Chain-link fences ok for holding kids of illegal immigrants
Rep. Kevin Cramer pushed back hard on the idea that keeping border-crossing children in chain-link cages was inhumane, defending the practice in two local radio shows.Cramer called the facilities "humane" during an appearance on KTGO, a local radio
station that broadcasts in the Bakken Oil Fields. "Chain link fences are around playgrounds all over America, all over North Dakota. And chain link fences allow line-of-sight visual connectivity with children and families," he said as he discussed
reversing President Trump's policy to let families stay together at the border. "You know, there's nothing inhumane about a chain link fence. If it is, then every ballpark in America is inhumane."
Cramer then went on to say he supported changing the
law to allow families to stay together when they enter the country illegally. The comments came before Trump announced he'd reverse his recently implemented strategy of separating children and parents at the border with an executive order.

Kevin Cramer:
Audio of immigrants' kids crying is "irrelevant hoopla"
[When asked about keeping border-crossing children in chain-link cages] on WDAY, Cramer called the focus on the cages "hoopla.""I think chain-link fences is irrelevant to the crying of children," he said when asked about the comments and whether he'd
heard the audio of children wailing after being separated from their parents. "There's all this hoopla, because I think that's a ruse by some on the left to try to create an image that's far worse in description than it is in reality," he said.
"The
actual value of the chain-link fence is you could see through it, that's the value of the chain link. If they put up a sheet rock wall between the children and the workers, the people there to protect them, to me that would be far worse," Cramer said.
"There's a broader conversation about the separation of families in general, but that happens throughout the country many times. The separation of children from their parents who do illegal things--it happens in every city of the country every day."

Refugees stimulate the economy but face hate in the US
When we do studies on the economy in the area where these refugees come, they stimulate the economy. They're good for the economy long term and it's not that long of a term. We don't sit there and there's people again who think we're just pouring money
into these people and we're not doing that. They're out there very hard workers. One of the really sad things is with all the hate that's going on.
They only came here from a war zone being threatened and now there's people attacking them and these people are starting to fear for their lives again here in the US and somebody's going to attack them somebody's going to shoot them somebody's going
to do this and what they've been through this is a real horrific thing for them to experience. We need to stop that. We're supposed to be a beacon of freedom and hope.
