Rick Sikma on Drugs

Republican Senate Challenger

Zero Tolerance on drug laws

Q: Do you support or oppose the policy: "Drug use is immoral: enforce laws against it"?

A: STRONGLY SUPPORT: Since illegal drug use does, in fact, undermine the morals of society, public education must continue about its dangers. The negative mindset of illegal drug use will increase with education. Just as cigarette smoking in public was the "thing to do" in the 60's and 70's, education has shifted the way it is viewed today. Furthermore, those who act as suppliers of illegal drugs are also acting as the source of undermining morality, and therefore the penalties allowed by law need to be stiffened significantly with a mindset of Zero Tolerance.
