Alexander Snitker on Social Security

Optional individual ownership of retirement funds

With Social Security, 15% of each individual's income is paid into Social Security whether we like it or not. Further, political pressure often influences the investment practices of these funds.

There is an easy, and somewhat obvious solution. It allows for individual ownership of retirement funds, and greater returns on investment than Social Security.

I propose making Social Security optional. Individuals can "opt out" of Social Security and provide for their own retirement.
