Joe L. Kennedy on Budget & Economy

Audit the FED, and perhaps end it for mishandling funds

As a Member of the Campaign For Liberty I am for auditing the FED. Additionally, if the FED is shown to have mishandled the money of US taxpayers I will happily co-sponsor a bill to end the FED. The simple truth is that since its inception in 1913, the Federal Reserve has helped to devalue our dollar by 95%. During the recent economic crisis, it has poured trillions of dollars into the economy with no oversight, made secret agreements with foreign banks and governments, and has refused to tell the American people including Congress who is getting the money or to give it the details of what deals are being made. I fully support HR 1207, Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed bill," and S 604, its Senate companion, and will demand full transparency from the Federal Reserve for the first time in history by removing all restrictions from Government Accountability Office (GAO) audits of the Fed and mandating an audit by the end of 2010.

Answer to majority of problems is free-market economy

I believe the answer to the majority of our internal problems is a commitment to a free-market economy. Free-markets breed innovations and stimulate all sectors. I also believe we as a country must be dedicated to the personal freedoms and civil liberties our nation was founded upon.
