Denise Majette on War & Peace

Former Democratic Rep (GA-4); 2004 former Senate challenger

Isakson voted against providing $1,500 bonuses to soldiers

ISAKSON: “Americans are sacrificing, and democracy is winning,” Isakson said in the debate sponsored by WMAZ-TV in Macon and held at Reaves Arena on the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. Isakson said terrorism “is an evil we must destroy.” “I’m proud of my vote, and I’m committed to the war on terror,” Isakson said.

MAJETTE: Majette, however, accused Isakson of voting against providing $1,500 bonuses to soldiers and giving them tax breaks. “As the daughter of a World War II veteran and the niece of a veteran of Korea who never returned home, I will never allow someone to question my integrity, my belief in what we are doing, what our soldiers are doing,” she said.

Work with international community to restore Iraq

The Bush Administration led our nation into a war for reasons that have proven to be inaccurate. There were no weapons of mass destruction, there was no nuclear weapons program, and we were under no imminent threat from Iraq. We must make sure the men and women serving in Iraq have what they need to protect them. But we need to be working with the international community to help restore peace and stability in Iraq so that we can bring our troops home as quickly as possible.
