ELVIS Act: prohibit AI from stealing singers' voices

While this new AI technology can be used for good, it also allows users to impersonate and make fake works in the voice and likeness of others. I'm proposing legislation to protect Tennessee's rich musical heritage and ensure that no one can steal the voice of Tennessee artists. We're calling this bill the ELVIS Act to honor our very own King of Rock & Roll, as well as his family who is still working to protect his legacy today.

TN.gov press release, "AI Impact on Music Industry": Governor Bill Lee announced the Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security (ELVIS) Act, a bill updating Tennessee's Protection of Personal Rights law to include protections for songwriters, performers, and music industry professionals' voice from the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI). The ELVIS Act would be the first legislation of its kind in the nation to build upon existing state rule protecting against the unauthorized use of someone's likeness by adding "voice" to the realm it protects.

One-time investment of $200 million in broadband expansion

I have proposed record investments in broadband since becoming Governor, and I am grateful for the legislature's support on this issue. But I am ready for us to solve this issue once and for all. A significant, one-time investment, combined with significant private investment, will get broadband to just about every community in Tennessee. To help us achieve our goal of every Tennessean having access to high speed broadband, my budget recommends an investment of 200 million dollars. Infrastructure needs repairs, stop kicking can down the road

Investing in infrastructure is clearly a need, and it needs to be addressed more quickly. I run a company with hundreds of vehicles, and our company is in the business of maintaining the infrastructure of buildings. Deferring maintenance is a costly, critical mistake. The same obviously applies to government. Neglecting infrastructure ensures more expensive and more painful solutions when we finally do get around to addressing them."
