Jon Kiper on Free Trade

Uncertainty of Trump's tariffs led to restaurant closure

A candidate in the race for governor said that tariff uncertainty played a role in his recent decision to close his business. Kiper said he believes a big part of that uncertainty is being driven by the White House, with tariff policy that is confusing markets and driving up prices. "Are avocados going to get a 30% tariff tomorrow? Are tomatoes going to get a 30% tariff? All of our tomatoes that we use are canned, but they come from Mexico, and they're canned over the summer," Kiper said.
