Tommy Tuberville on Social Security

We have to reform Social Security or it will go broke

[On entitlement reform]: "Their only compliant that they have, which is totally wrong, saying we're going to cut Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, they couldn't be any further from the truth, we're not going to do that, we're going to reform it."

"This is the first time Democrats have been exactly right--Social Security, Medicare and Medicare is going to blow up and is going to go broke if we continue down the path of what the Democrats want," reiterating that "we have to reform it."

Look into private options; spending is unsustainable

Q: How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

A: Spending on Social Security is unsustainable. We must reform the system but cannot disturb the benefits for those already receiving them. We need to review whether the retirement age should be increased (not for those already or near receiving) as well as looking into private options for SS. We need to remove government red tape out of the system.
