Restructure forces, larger, & for liberation, not occupation
We don't have a force structure that's designed to support an occupation. Didn't have it in 2003, and I would be surprised if we ever have it again. During the Cold War, maybe we had it. During World War Two we had millions of people in uniform.
The Russians, who have occupied their share of countries--they had had millions of people in uniform. We only have hundreds of thousands of people in uniform.Let's talk about what my take is on how our military should be used. I think that the
American military is small, should not be, and it won't be structured for occupation. We should really be a military that when we use it, it's a last resort, but it should be used for liberation not occupation.
When you do that you're able to go in, you try to keep as much of the host country infrastructure in place as you can. That's what we did after World War II in Japan, we kept a lot of infrastructure in place.

Supports Protect America Act: less FISA restrictions
Jeff Beatty says John Kerry fails on the "Protect America Act" and thus fails to protect U.S. citizens at home and U.S. Forces in combat. The original Protect America Act of 2007 amended the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 to provide
additional procedures for authorizing the acquisition of certain forms of foreign intelligence information. This past week, Congress walked away from a bill to extend that capability as they went on recess. John Kerry voted against the new legislation.

Sow seeds, in media and publicly, to support our troops
I will suggest today, three seeds that we each sow that will help support our troops.- First Seed- As individuals, we can make direct contact with a soldier. I urge you to send a package to the troops through Dylan DeSilva here in this marvelous
program "Cape Cod Cares for the Troops".
- Second Seed- As citizens, I would ask you to require of your public officials, their full and correct support for our troops. Public officials need to make sure our troops have the best of everything, including
the best equipment, the best training, the best leadership, and the best benefits. Our troops also need public officials to protect their rights.
- Third Seed- Sometimes our get it wrong. Our Troops have almost universally behaved in an exemplary manner
in some tough conditions. When our troops even appear to possibly make mistakes, the media quickly and repetitively sensationalizes those stories. When our troops do make a mistake, it is the exception and not the rule.

We face an enemy that is evil to the core
Our Troops have almost universally behaved in an exemplary manner in some tough conditions. Ladies and Gentlemen, I can assure you, when our troops do make a mistake, it is the exception and not the rule. Contrast that to our enemy. We face an enemy
that is evil to the core. The enemy routinely tortures, mutilates, and even beheads American Prisoners of War and Civilians. Murder is mild for them. For our enemy, War Crimes and Murder are the rule and not the exception.
The enemy will not go away if
we try to ignore them. The enemy will also soon start fresh attempts to attack us in different ways. They will try to attack in our Transit systems as they did in Madrid and London. They will try to attack our school children as they did in Russia.
They will change their tactics and we must anticipate those changes. We must also realize that we are in a long war. We will lose a fight now and then, but we will prevail and we will win the war. We did not start this war but we will finish it.
