Lee Jones on Abortion

Democratic Senate Challenger (KS)

I would not work to take away the right of a woman's choice

I don't think there is a decent human alive who is happy about an abortion. It is, and should be, a deliberative process by which a woman chooses to continue or to end a pregnancy. But it is ultimately a choice that a woman must make herself, and the highest court in the land has upheld that right. I would not work to take away that right.

Encouraging abstinence is rooted in denial

Approaches to pregnancy prevention is equally important [as allowing a woman the right to choose]. Encouraging abstention, while noble in intent, is simply inadequate and rooted in denial. While abstention should be included, contraceptive options must not be overlooked when counseling people about pregnancy prevention.
