Good parenting is the best ‘anti-drug’ we have

Gov. Mel Carnahan today helped launch a new national drug awareness campaign. The new ad campaign urges parents to talk to their children about the dangers of substance abuse. “Parents are key when it comes to keeping kids off drugs. Tougher Internet child pornography laws

Gov. Mel Carnahan today called for tougher child pornography laws to crack down on the use of the Internet to produce and distribute pornographic materials involving children. Carnahan’s plan attacks pornography on several fronts including the production and sale of child pornography, the possession of such pornography, the furnishing of pornography to a minor and the use of computers and Internet technology in the child pornography trade. Early intervention & accountability for juvenile crime

Gov. Mel Carnahan today announced that Missouri’s juvenile courts will receive more than $4.5 million in grants this year to combat juvenile crime. Carnahan said, “These locally-designed programs hold juvenile offenders accountable for their crimes and also provide preventive services to deter them from more serious or repeat offenses.
