Combat the heroin and opioid epidemic

For two decades, Jennifer has been serving the people of Virginia as a prosecutor and advocate for abused children. During her time in the state Senate, Jennifer found bipartisan support for her legislation to make children safer, combat the heroin and opioid epidemic, increase access to affordable health care, improve education, ease traffic congestion, and bring more businesses to northern Virginia.

In Congress, Jennifer introduced 17 pieces of legislation in her first term, her Retirement Protection Act being signed into law as a part of the CARES Act coronavirus response.

Treatment & prevention will defeat opioid problem

As a State Senator, Jennifer passed bills to improve Virginia's prescription monitoring program, help get the lifesaving drug Narcan to more people and allow Child Protective Services to help substance-exposed newborns and their mothers. She has advocated for laws that allow prosecutors to pursue charges against predatory drug dealers. In Congress, she will work to secure funding for substance use prevention and treatment.
