Refused to send the state National Guard to the Texas border

Shapiro refused to send the state National Guard to the border when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was asking for other states' support in responding to increased numbers of migrants. Pennsylvania state Senate Republicans passed legislation urging the governor to send the Pennsylvania National Guard, but Shapiro did not comply, insisting an act of Congress is required to pass legislation to reform the current immigration system. Government shouldn't go back on its promise to DREAMers

[On DREAMers]: "The Federal Government put the DACA program in place to allow young adults who were brought to our country as children without making a choice and who often know no other home, to continue pursuing their education, careers and military service on behalf of the United States," wrote Shapiro. "These young men & women have undergone background checks and are contributing to our economy and our communities - our government shouldn't go back on its promise to these young men and women now."
