Mikie Sherrill on Environment

Applauds EPA for mitigating PFAs contamination

"New Jersey industries built this country but we now have the environmental scars to show for it. Every New Jerseyan deserves clean drinking water, which is why I've fought to bring federal resources back home to help towns mitigate PFAS contamination. I applaud the Biden Administration and the EPA for taking this important action today to not only strengthen our water standards but also supporting this mission with federal dollars," said Rep. Sherrill.

Construct a new rail tunnel to New York

For more than two decades, we've waited for the construction of a new rail tunnel to New York. The Northeast produces 20% of our nation's GDP and moving this project forward will help our national economy by creating jobs, attracting businesses, and making our workers more productive by cutting commuting times. The federal government must honor its agreement and commit to funding its share of the Gateway project.

Vote for moratorium on coastline oil/gas leasing

A federal bill that would create a permanent moratorium on oil/gas leasing along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts has gained the vote of Sherrill. "New Jersey's coastline is a precious resource that sustains our environment, fishing industry, and tourism economy," Sherrill said. "Offshore drilling puts all three of those things at risk. Congress needs to focus on growing our clean energy economy and following New Jersey's lead by investing in a clean energy future."
