Kari Lake on Immigration

Border wall keeps us safe from a potential terrorist attack

Lake: The border wall keeps us safe. We have seen areas where the border wall is there and where there are gaps, people are pouring through. Ruben Gallego has supported Kamala Harris, the border czar, and Joe Biden's open border policy which has led to 400,000 convicted criminals coming in and they have done nothing to secure the border. The only piece of legislation Mr. Gallego put forth was about removing the word removing the word "illegal." He is more worried about semantics. We are worried about a potential terrorist attack.

Gallego: The border wall is important to the security package. it has to be coupled with technology and manpower. This is why it was important the bill passed because it had a lot of those elements. I have voted for border walls in the past. With the proper manpower and staffing, it does work. What does not work is a border wall without the manpower and laws you need to implement because it does not end up being of use. It just costs us money.

Deport & ban anyone entering outside official port of entry

Require the automatic, immediate deportation of individuals caught crossing the border outside of official ports of entry. Further, individuals caught crossing the border outside of a port of entry will be permanently banned from entry into the U.S.

A lot of fraudulent asylum claims are being made

The vast majority of the people coming across don't really meet the criteria for asylum. There's a lot of fraudulent asylum claims that are being made. I'm really concerned about the people of Arizona. We have had five million people come in, and we have had a million of them called got-aways. That means we're not even processing them. They want to avoid capture because they have criminal records. We need to vet people coming into our country.

We're going to protect our own border from invasion

LAKE: If you know the Constitution, you know that Article 4, Section 4 calls for the federal government to protect us from invasion, and under Joe Biden's lack of leadership, we just aren't seeing that. We have an invasion at our border, these Narco terrorist groups have operational control. They're using Arizona to smuggle people, to traffic children and to traffic fentanyl. We're going to invoke our Article 1, Section 10, authority to protect our own border.

KATIE HOBBS: My opponent's positions on this issue are nothing but empty rhetoric. She's not offering real solutions. When she talked about invoking the constitutional authority of the state, she's talking about declaring an invasion at our Southern border. That would do absolutely nothing to increase border security, but it would bring untold levels of chaos into our state. It's not a real solution.

I am committed to finishing the wall

As Governor, I will direct the Arizona National Guard to deploy along the border and assist Border Patrol. What we have now is a security and humanitarian crisis. International criminal cartels are fully in control of Northern Mexico and have turned the flood of people wanting to get into the United States into just another lucrative revenue source to be exploited. That's why I am committed to finishing the wall. I will not let this suffering continue.
