Sharron Angle on Principles & Values | |
Angle sits behind the black rope in the Conservative Commandos booth. With one hand, she clutches tightly a microphone that reads "WNJC 1360". With the other, she fiddles with a gold chain around her neck. She doesn't say much, and doesn't look that interested.
But Angle says she likes her job on the radio. She does it "just to kind of keep in the game, you know? You need to be familiar with the press, especially when you run for office or you have a public persona. It's good to stay in contact with the press."
Throughout the course of several conversations, Angle expresses disdain for the press but acknowledges the importance of being someone the press cares about.
"Senator Reid has been a politician for over 30 years," Angle began. "I live in a middle-class neighborhood in Reno, Nevada. Senator Reid live in the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C."
That might particularly rankle Nevadans who now suffer with the highest unemployment and foreclosure rates in the country.
But Reid, the son of a miner, tried to show he knew what it was like to suffer through tough times--like when he was growing up in the tiny town of Searchlight. Lean times sound different in Nevada than they do in other parts of the country, though.
"Times were tough. The mines weren't doing well at all. My mom took in wash from the brothels in Searchlight so I have some idea of what it's like to struggle," Reid said.
If you'd decided to play a drinking game and take a swig every time Reid called his opponent extreme, you'd have quite the hangover this morning.
We're talking about militant terrorist situation, which I believe isn't a widespread thing. But it is enough that we need to address, and we have been addressing it. My thoughts are these. First of all, Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas, are on American soil and under constitutional law, not Sharia law. And I don't know how that happened in the United States. (APPLAUSE).CNN: That certainly sounds scary. But it seems to me that there is something fundamentally wrong with allowing a foreign system of law to even take hold in any municipality or government situation in our United States.
The Tea Party movement is a populist conservative social movement in the United States that emerged in 2009 through a series of locally and nationally coordinated protests. The protests were partially in response to several Federal laws: the stimulus package; te healthcare bill; and the TARP bailouts. The name "Tea Party" refers to the Boston Tea Party of 1773, the source of the phrase, "No Taxation Without Representation."
