Tax the hell out of the wealthy

This has to be the party that's not afraid to say out loud we're going to tax the hell out of the wealthy. And when we do that, Donald Trump right on cue will call us socialists. Well, here's what I'll say to him. Donald, you're the real socialist. The problem is, it's socialism for the rich. We can fight back. OpEd: NYC property taxes favors the wealthy

In Bill de Blasio's New York, where the property tax levy has skyrocketed 44% in just five years, the working class subsidizes the property taxes of the wealthy. Our city's low-and-middle income neighborhoods pay an effective property tax rate that is double or triple the rate paid by homeowners in the city's most affluent neighborhoods in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn, including the mayor's own home in Park Slope.

Fight the agenda of Trump tax giveaway to the wealthy

Millions of people in this city, tens of millions across the country, are boxed in to lives that just aren't working for them. You haven't been paid what you deserve for all the hard work. You haven't been given the time you deserve. You're not living the life you deserve. And here is the cold, hard truth--it's no accident. It's an agenda. An agenda that's dominated our politics from Reaganomics to the Trump tax giveaway to the wealthy and corporations. For decades. For decades, working people have done their share. For decades, working people have gotten more and more productive. At the same time, they've gotten a smaller and smaller share of the wealth they create. Here's the truth. Brothers and sisters, there's plenty of money in the world. There's plenty of money in this city. It's just in the wrong hands.
