Fund job training and small business development

There are three critical steps we should take to ensure that jobs are being created and our people are working:
1. ensure that small businesses have access to the capital & assistance they need;
2. fully fund job training programs so that unemployed and underemployed workers get the training and education they need to help them find good jobs; and
3. fully fund important education initiatives such as Head Start and No Child Left Behind, so that we have an educated workforce in the future.

Increase the minimum wage

Majette supports the following principles regarding jobs:
• Reduce government regulation of the private sector in order to encourage investment and economic expansion.
• Establish empowerment zones in areas with large numbers of unemployed people.
• Provide tax credits for businesses that provide child care for their employees.
• Encourage employers to offer flex-time scheduling, comp-time, and unpaid leave for family emergencies.
• Increase the federal minimum wage.
