Focus attention on the growing meth problem

Scott Kleeb met with leading members of the law enforcement and social services communities in Lexington to discuss the growing meth problem in Central Nebraska. "Despite recent efforts to control the meth trade in Nebraska, we are still facing an epidemic in this state that threatens to undermine the social fabric of our communities," Scott said. "It is my responsibility as a candidate to focus attention on this problem and to encourage an open and energized discussion of next steps."

Adequate treatment options first, to deal with meth

Participants in the Thursday discussion said social services are being overwhelmed at all levels because of the growing meth problem. Courts are flooded with meth cases. Prisons are filled to overflowing. "Until we have adequate treatment options available right here in the 3rd District, then we can't say we are stepping up to the plate to confront this problem," Kleeb said Thursday. "We have to get serious about directing more federal funds to local government for this."
