Douglas Forrester on Social Security

Guarantee S.S. payments, and stop taxing them

We can stop using Social Security to pay for other programs by taking Social Security out of the Federal Budget, so that it stands alone. We must pass the Social Security Guarantee Act. This would assure that the government would be bound by law to pay our benefits. Third, I will work to repeal the Clinton tax increase on benefits. And fourth, we must abolish the earnings limit for individuals over 62 years of age.

Safeguard Social Security by giving workers some control

Social Security is a promise, and it's a promise that must be kept. I believe this promise will be threatened if we don't find a way to safeguard current retirees' benefits while at the same time offering younger workers the option of controlling a portion of their own retirement funds.
